Stiftelsen har som formål å bidra til etablering og utvikling av næringsvirksomhet i Trondheim og omegn gjennom ulike finansieringsformer. Finansiering kan ytes i form av egenkapital og/eller fremmedkapital. Stiftelsen kan videre yte finansiering gjennom utdeling av stipender og andre former for tilskudd. Stiftelsen kan benytte andre finansieringsvirkemidler som stiftelsen anser som formålstjenlig for å realisere stiftelsens formål. Mottakere av tildelinger fra stiftelsen skal ha en slik tilknytning til Trondheim og omegn at tildelinger fra stiftelses antas å ville få ringvirkninger for byen og omegn.
