IAPs formål er å legge til rette for undervisning og veiledning i
psykoterapi på et bredt faglig grunnlag i tråd med den faglige
plattformen. Som del av og forutsetning for at dette målet skal nås,
organiserer IAP egen faglig skolering av medlemmene og andre som kan
bidra tilden faglige virksomheten. IAP skal også bidra til forskning
og fagutvikling for å sikre at hovedformålet videreføres.
