Foreningens formål er å fremme turisme som støtter opp om etablering, utvikling og forvaltning av nasjonalparker og andre beskyttede naturområder i IUCN kategori I - IV, både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Tilfeller der slik turisme gjennomføres på en bærekraftig måte vil bli benyttet for utvikling av nye prosjekter. Foreningen vil hente inn og formidle kunnskap og informasjon om best mulige metoder og praktiske utførelser for turisme knyttet til nasjonalparker. Sentralt i virksomheten står målene nedfelt i konvensjonen om biologisk mangfold (CBD), samt "The Future We Want" - dokumentet adoptert under Rio + 20. LT&C Society vil søke samarbeid med organisasjoner og institusjoner som arbeider for de samme formål.
