NBBL skal fremme boligbyggelagenes økonomiske interesser gjennom deres deltakelse i NBBLs og datterselskaps virksomhet. NBBL skal videre arbeide for boligbyggelagenes felles interesser, samt påvirke myndighetene slik at det føres en aktiv og bærekraftig bolig- og bygningspolitikk som sikrer alle medlemmer i boligbyggelagene rett til en god bolig og et godt bomiljø.
