Avkastningen av grunnkapialen hvert år skal være en oppmuntring til de eldste i Etnedal kommune, og siste års avkastning skal brukes det påfølgende år slik: Alle over 80 år, unntatt de som bor på Etnedalsheimen, får en festmiddag m.v. inklusive busstur på et pent sted i distriktet. Dette gjelder alle som vil, og kan delta, og som ikke trenger egen ledsager. De som blir igjen hjemme får en fin blomsterbukett. Med buketten følger et kort hvor det skal stå: "Hilsen fra Reidar Olai Wikens minne", med bilde av giveren. Kort trykkes opp i så stort opplag at de varer i flere år. Det lages også tre-fire store innrammede bilder av giveren, med tekst, som hvert år skal plasseres på bordene under middagen.
