Velforeningens formål er å fremme medlemmenes felles interesser i
området, virke for stedets sosiale og fysiske miljø, og beboernes
trivsel og sikkerhet. Foreningen kan ta opp alle saker som kan fremme
disse formålene. Ås Vel omfatter Ås sentrum med boligområdene Aschjem
og Langbakken øst for jernbanen, Sørås og Søråsteigen, vest for
jernbanen.
