Legatets formål er å yte støtte til økonomisk dårlig stilte og trengende leddgiktspasienter bosatt i Eidanger/Porsgrunn, til behandling og til innkjøp av hjelpemidler som ikke fåes av det offentlige. Hvis legatet finner at det er tilstrekkelig midler til utdeling, kan dernest slik støtte gis til blinde og svaksynte. Bidrag kan også bevilges til Betanien Hospital i Skien, revmatologisk avd. og øyeavd. til behandling av pasienter fra Eidanger/Porsgrunn og til Oslo Sanitetsforenings revmatismesykehus til behandling av leddgiktpasienter fra Eidanger/Porsgrunn.
