Stiftelsens formål er å forestå innsamlingen til den årlige NRK TV-aksjonen. Stiftelsen skal være ansvarlig for alle oppgaver knyttet til gjennomføringen av NRK TV-aksjonen, herunder, men ikke begrenset til å rekruttere og organiseres frivillige og samarbeidspartnere, samt organisere kommunikasjonsaktiviteter og kampanjer, og å sørge for at overskuddet fra de innsamlede midlene overføres til den organisasjonen som NRK har tildelt NRK TV-aksjonen.
