Bergens Skipperforening er partipolitisk uavhengig, og har som formål å samle medlemmer for å utvikle og vedlikeholde kontakten mellom kollegaer i ulike maritime miljøer samt fremme faglig og oppdatert allmenn opplysning blant sine medlemmer.<br />Den ærverdige foreningen ble stiftet 22. august 1867, og har i dag nærmere 250 medlemmer.
