Friluftsrådet skal i samarbeid med deltakerkommunene, fylkeskommunene,
andre offentlige myndigheter og organisasjoner, fremme et allsidig og
bærekraftig friluftsliv i den regionen deltakerkommunene omfatter, til
beste for befolkningens trivsel og helse. Friluftsrådet skal være et
senter for kompetanse og utvikling innen friluftsliv i
deltakerkommunene. Friluftsrådet skal i samarbeid med kommunene
arbeide for mer friluftsliv for alle, hele året.
