Foreningen skal arbeide for å fremme musikk som uttrykksform i sitt
nærmiljø. Grunnlaget for foreningen ligger i en erkjennelse av at
musikk skal være en kilde til glede og mening, til læring og personlig
vekst, til sosial tilhørighet, identitet og mellomkulturell forståelse
for alle mennesker. Denne erkjennelsen er knyttet både til musikk som
egenartet kunst og kulturform og til musikk som innhold i sosial
samhandling. For foreningen er alle sjangre likeverdige.
